Red Hot Shorts is run by Gus Berger – who also runs the pop up cinema Blow Up Cinema and Gusto Films – an independent film production company.
Gusto Films’ first documentary feature, Duke Vin and the Birth of Ska told the inspirational story of the early wave of Jamaican migrants and the positive impact they had upon the UK music scene. Gusto Films also runs filmmaking workshops with young, indigenous men who are serving their Community Based Orders at a diversion program in Gippsland.

From 1997-2002, Gus owned and ran the independent record store, Rising Sounds. Based in the Degraves Street Subway in Melbourne’s city, Rising Sounds put out a couple of vinyl releases and organised tours and parties for London based DJs Chris Liberator, The Geezer, Lawrie Immersion/Pounding Grooves, DAVE The Drummer and Julian Liberator.
